I definitely did not grow up knowing much about makeup and skincare. I’m the only girl in my family and wasn’t planning on my brother’s to tell me which eye shadow to wear or lotion is the best for dry skin. My mom wasn’t into makeup or skincare either. It wasn’t until the last few years where I’ve been really researching and playing around with different makeups, beauty products, and the girly things. Thought I’d share some of my favorites that I have found along the way!
I have been a die hard MAC fan and would only use their products, you couldn’t talk me into anything else. I also had a very simple routine but still didn’t like the way I looked. I started to venture out to other products, starting with mascara. I have used a variety from drug store faves to brand names, finally found my true love mascara… Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara. I have very blonde, barely there lashes and this mascara really makes them look full and long. I also find that it doesn’t smudge off under my eyes during the day and leaving black circles. I’m obsessed with this mascara!
Up until about 6 months ago, I had no idea lash primer existed! I started hearing about it and thought I’d give it a try. I tried a few brands but found I had the best results with the Lancôme Cils Booster XL Vitamin Infused – Primer. Besides my lashes looking thicker and my mascara standing out, I noticed my lashes are a lot stronger and look fuller, even without anything on. Definitely cannot live without this product!
I actually never use to use foundation before, mainly because I didn’t like the way it feels. I felt like my face was claustrophobic, ha! Now days, I feel like my skin needs a little something more than powder. I had been using MAC’s foundation powder, which I still stand by and still use, just not as much. I do have a lot of red in my skin and of course a few happy lines 🙂 I started using the IT Cosmetics CC Cream and loved it! From the other foundations I tried, this one really hit the mark. Easy to put on, light weight, great full coverage and lasts all day. After some trial and error, I found the best way to apply is with a beauty blender. Make sure to pounce it in, not rub it!
There are so many concealers out there! This one I have struggled with for a long time. I’ve tried concealer pencils, palettes, creams and so many before coming across my ride or die! I’m cheating here a little bit, I actually found two that I really love and can’t live without. It depends on what I did the night before…aka, how many times did the kids wake up ha! The Tarte Shape Tape I love to help brighten my eyes if I’m looking a little tired. I apply it about an inch under my eye and down my nose, making a triangle shape then blend blend blend! For days when my eyes are really puffy and are a little more wrinkly, which for me is mainly due to nursing, I use IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Concealer. With any concealer, make sure you go a little lighter and use a damp beauty blender and blend blend blend. Make sure your are pouncing and not wiping!
So this little tool, I was skeptical but all the reviews said it was amazing so I thought, why not. After using this a couple weeks, I really noticed a difference in my skin. The Skin Gym roller really helps get your serums and moisturizers in your skin which makes for better results. My favorite thing is waking up and rolling the cold stone under my eyes and all over my face. I have naturally puffy eyes plus being a mom and having some sleepless nights, I need all the help I can get. If you are a mom, you know what this feels like! Highly recommend this if you have any puffiness and skin irritations, it will help reduce the inflammation.
