Happy 4th of July!!! Wow, what a year it has been so far and crazy to think we have made it to the halfway point of 2020. We started writing this monthly blog post in August of 2019. We are almost at a year of How About a Cocktail.
We have really enjoyed this one a lot, for a few reasons. It’s made us more creative in making drinks. We’ve connected with some really cool bloggers that make amazing drinks for us to try. Our entertaining skills have gone up a notch and we’ve even created a few drinks of our own.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this blog series as much as we do. Here is our July line up…
Bourbon Sweet Tea Cocktail
This wonderful drink is coming to you from This Worthey Life . As I mentioned above about connecting with some really cool bloggers after starting this series, we adore Tatanisha & Derrick from This Worthey Life. Not only do they come up with the most amazing drinks, they have great food and outdoor decorating. You have to check them out. This Bourbon sweet tea is right up our ally and we can wait to sip on this one on a hot day!
Strawberry Basil Bubbly
This is one of my own creations. I made a variation of this a few posts before, but this one is a little different. For this drink I wanted to infuse vodka with strawberry and basil. This drink is so simple. Just needs the infused vodka, Strawberry Bubbly (or any seltzer water you like) and a little simple syrup.
Infused Vodka
- 24 oz mason jar
- 1 lb strawberries
- 3-4 large basil leaves
- Vodka (I used Tito’s)
Wash strawberries and cut in half. Fill the mason jar with the strawberries placing the basil leaves layered throughout. Pour the vodka in and seal the lid. Place in a dark cool place for 3 days (I put mine in the pantry). If you remember, go in and shake a couple times a day. By day 3 she should be ready to go. You will notice that the strawberries turn white and the vodka takes on the red color. Strain the liquid into a bottle and put in the refrigerator till use.
Drink Recipe
- 2 oz of infused vodka
- 1 T simple syrup
- 4 oz Strawberry Bubbly
- Ice
- Basil and Strawberry for garnish (optional)
Fill a glass with ice. Add your vodka, simple syrup, bubbly and stir. Garnish with basil and strawberry. Enjoy!
Smoky Watermelon Lemon Margarita
Oh boy does this one look delicious. Found this one from another one of our favorites Half Baked Harvest . This drink has everything we love in it…watermelon, basil, lemon, jalapenos oh my! Sounds amazing for an evening of BBQ or poolside. Can’t wait to try this one out.
Easy Bomb Pop Cocktails
Well, with it being the 4th of July in 2 days, we couldn’t leave out a fun holiday drink. This one is so simple and you can do last minute. All you need is sparking wine, champagne, vodka soda or any kind of bubbly drink and add a bomb pop! Found this idea from Fruetcake. This can be made for adults and a kid friendly version. So easy, yet so cute and festive.
We hope this gave you a jump start on your cocktail making for July. If you want other ideas be sure to check out our other months. Let us know if you make any and what you think. Have a wonderful 4th of July!
xoxo
